An early Conrad Viedt talkie before the Third Reich

Translated, The man who committed the murder, I just saw it. It's very interesting early German talkie before Conrad Viedt left for England and before Hitler took control of Germany. I still don't under stand German yet but a few words. It takes place in Constantinopl. He's playing Marquis Savione. He has an assignment to spy on Lord Falkland, played by Hienrich George,but discovers that he has an unhappy wife, Lady Falkland, played by Trudy Von Molo. Hienrich is having an affair with another lady I think her supposed best friend. Lady Falkland knows this and doesn't care. She has a child a son lord Falkland ignores. There's this pip squeak in the picture that I'm not sure what he is apart of. But he is in love with lady Falkland too. Well Conrad Fall for Trudy and the same for her. There's a scene in which Hienrich, Conrad and the pip squeak go out and see the circus and watches a topless trapeze artist. Then they all head to the brothel. They all get a girl except Savione. He3 goes back to his boss to report on Lord Falkland. Eventually lord Falkland gets murdered. Trudy is grateful so she tries to meet him to thank him but he isn't there. The end. This is why a gave it a 7. The way the ending was. It could of been better. The editing was slow paced in this movie. Erich Pronto plays a small part in it. Not bad but not great neither

There begins a revival in the village and many families are torn apart because of it. Tims Halvor becomes a part of the group but his wife is against them. Ingmar hears through Stark Anders what's going on in Inmarsgården, also that Gertrud has started to be influenced by Helgum's appeal and decides to go back to the village. Gunhild's brother is trying to kill Helgum because he has stolen the family's daughter, but Ingmar saves Helgum's life just in time. Helgum decides to go back to Jerusalem, but before he goes, Karin becomes a believer which gives new strength to the revival. Many people from the village follow Helgum to Jerusalem, among them Karing and Tims Halvor. Karin has to sell the farm in an auction. Ingmar tries to find money for buying his home farm. The judge Persson promises to give him the money, but in condition he should marry his daughter Barbro. Ingmar has to make a difficult decision, and he chooses the farm. Gertrud starts to have odd thoughts and even sees Jesus in a vision who leads her to Maria Bouvings' cottage where she sleeps in a bed with sheets and pillows bought from the auction. She finds the money hidden in the pillow which would have been enough to buy back the farm. She gives money to Ingmar and tells him that she will follow other "helgums" to Jerusalem and that she is freed from all sorrows now. Description: Lieutenant Droste wants to build an air station in the middle of the ocean to allow pilots on intercontinental flights to refuel and repair any damage to their aircraft. With the help of the pilot Ellissen, he manages to win the support of the Lennartz-Werke for the project. Ellissen, who has taken up with the owner's sister Claire Lennartz, shies away from marriage and seeks new adventure.

After two years, the platform has become a city on the ocean, with runways, hangars, hotels, and shopping centers. During a storm, the connection to the platform is severed. The last sounds to come over the telephone were gunshots and screams. The weather clears and the best pilots immediately head for F.P.1. Ellissen, in a lovesick depression, is convinced by Claire to accompany her to the platform. Their plane crashes on the island but they survive.

The crew of F.P.1 has been the victim of a saboteur, who knocked them out with gas. Before chief engineer Damsky fled in a boat, he opened the valves, causing a danger that F.P.1 will sink. Claire finds the badly injured Droste and takes care of him. Ellissen has to recognize that Claire is slipping away from him. After a short time, he pulls himself together and takes a plane out to get help. He sees a ship, jumps from his plane, is taken aboard the ship, and calls for help via radio. A fleet of ships and planes are sent to rescue F.P.1


This deluxe German/British production was originally released as simply F.P. 1. The story and characterizations take a back seat to the massive sets and state-of-art (for 1933) special effects. The floating aerodrome which provides the film's centerpiece is a truly impressive creation, far more so than the penny-dreadful espionage plotline involving plans to sabotage the mid-Atlantic airport. Among the scripters were future directors Curt Siodmak, Walter Reisch and Robert Stevenson, all of whom flourished in the dual Berlin/London market that would be broken up with the emergence of Hitler. Retitled F.P. 1 Doesn't Answer, the film was released in the U.S. by Hollywood's Fox Studios, which bestowed top billing upon American actor Leslie Fenton--over and above the more illustrious Conrad Veidt. ~ Hal Erickson

The Face Behind the Mask is a crime-drama film released by Columbia Pictures in 1941. It stars Peter Lorre and Evelyn Keyes and was directed by Robert Florey. The screenplay was adapted by Paul Jarrico, Arthur Levinson, and Allen Vincent from the play Interim, written by Thomas Edward O'Connell.

Janos Szaby is a kind, innocent immigrant to America. Just after he arrives though, he is caught in a fire and his face is horribly burned and disfigured. Although a skilled craftsman his hideous features make it impossible for him to get work, and driven by despair he is forced to turn to crime to live. He finds himself very proficient at that, and soon makes enough money to buy a very lifelike mask to hide his scars behind. He hates what he does, but is he in too deep to get out?
